Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan commended the Keraleeyam program for effectively showcasing Kerala’s significant achievements on a global and national scale, fulfilling its intended purpose. Speaking at the concluding session of the Keraleeyam program at the Thiruvananthapuram Central Stadium, CM underscored the program’s integral role in unifying the nation and its people. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the widespread embrace of Keraleeyam across the country, symbolizing both national unity and the unity of its people. He envisioned the state’s transformation into a national and international festival, noting the enthusiastic participation of individuals from diverse regions across Kerala.
Highlighting the enthusiastic involvement of the younger generation across various avenues in Keraleeyam, the Chief Minister expressed optimism that their vision and hope would empower the government to replicate the success of Keraleeyam in the years to come. He recognized the valuable proposals garnered from the 25 seminars conducted during Keraleeyam, emphasizing a commitment to executing pragmatic and forward-thinking strategies to address various challenges. He acknowledged Kerala’s remarkable achievement in reducing the poverty rate from 40% to an unprecedented 0.6% over the past four decades.
Outlining plans to accelerate the production of value-added agricultural products and attract private investment in food and industrial parks, the Chief Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring efficient land distribution and governance through legislative amendments and streamlined land use regulations. He detailed the government’s commitments and legislative reforms focused on food security, housing, and enhancing the cooperative sector. He articulated plans to position Kerala as a leading state in the industrial sector, facilitate private investment, and promote sectors like medical device manufacturing, IT, infrastructure development, and tourism.
The Chief Minister also outlined initiatives to enhance higher education quality, education reforms, health insurance accessibility, and promote the overall well-being of senior citizens and differently-abled individuals. He recognized the efforts of various groups, such as the Harita Karma Sena and Corporation employees, for their contributions during the Keraleeyam program. Looking ahead, he announced preparations for Keraleeyam 2024, outlining the formation of committees to commence work under the leadership of the Chief Secretary, with decisions regarding this initiative to be made during an upcoming cabinet meeting.
